This year marks 10 years of operation for RISE Prep Academies as they proudly announce the first year of a 9th grade addition.

RISE Prep Academies, headquartered at 30 Cumberland Street, Woonsocket, which includes RISE Prep’s Upper Academy (High School 9-12) and RISE Prep’s Lower Academy (Grades K-8), welcomes back scholars in grades K-9 for the first day of school on August 26, 2024 marking its 10th year as a premiere Charter School system. “We are excited and honored to usher in the 2024-25 school year which marks one decade of RISE Prep serving the community,” stated Dr. Rosalind DaCruz, Founder and Executive Director.

This is also the founding year of the Upper Academy High School starting with 9th grade and adding one grade each year until the 2028-2029 school year, with many of the scholars having been enrolled in RISE since kindergarten.

RISE Prep, in partnership with Boys and Girls Club of Woonsocket, has leased educational space for the next two years at The Boys and Girls Club at 600 Social Street in Woonsocket while it builds its permanent high school facility.  Josh Falk, Principal of RISE Prep Upper Academy (9-12) explained “We’ve put together a very talented team of educators and couldn’t be more excited for our founding year.” The Upper Academy (grade 9) has a few open seats left and parents are encouraged to apply today on RISE Prep’s website: riseprepri.org

Both schools are fully staffed with approximately 80 staff members between the two Academies. Colleen Colarusso, Academies Superintendent, expressed that “Like many schools across the state and across the country, we are looking to rebound to pre-pandemic performance this year. We will provide high-quality instruction and implement our curriculum with integrity.  We have partnered with our educators to ensure that every teacher has a content coach, has clarity on both grade-level content and language expectations, and is confident in their knowledge of the curriculum.”

Both schools are fully enrolled with 640 scholars attending from the communities of Woonsocket, North Smithfield, and Burrillville.

Applications for enrollment at the Academies for the 2025-2026 school year will be open in November 2024 and the lottery will be held in April 2025. Families on the wait-list must reapply each year. For more info, call 401-765-5127.
